Does your Warrnambool business have 19 or less employees?

If yes, are you using Single Touch Payroll (STP) yet?

If the answer is no, you have until 30 September to move to STP.

STP became mandatory for small businesses on 1 July this year, although there has been a three-month transition for those employers who needed more time to prepare for this change.

That three-month transition ends on 30 September. So are you ready?

Sinclair Wilson has a specialist STP team, who can help you and your business implement this new requirement.

If you’re yet to get yourself on STP, there are still options – you can start using it immediately (either do it yourself, or contact us to get this happening); you can ask for a deferral (again, we can help with this), or, as your registered tax or BAS agent, we can work with you to organise quarterly reporting, provided your business is eligible.

There are also concessions available for certain types of businesses; if you employ family members, if you only have one to four employees, or seasonal works, OR if you have an unreliable internet connection, you can gain a deferral. Talk to us about how this can be done.

The ATO understands that like their owners, businesses are unique – and so are their payroll challenges. They have options to suit each situation – it’s just a matter of making contact and providing the right information.

Although change usually seems daunting to everyone at first, we have found that a bit of help from us has been key to helping our clients prepare, implement and manage their STP requirements effectively – and for many, it’s already part of their daily operations.

If you know you need to get STP-ready, but aren’t sure where to start, get in touch with Sinclair Wilson today.
