Tim Clarke – Ready to Jump New Hurdles
National Equestrian Champion, Tim Clarke’s day job is about to develop into something considerably more – on the 1st July he became a Principal and Director of the Sinclair Wilson group, the largest independent non-metropolitan accounting and business advisory firm in Victoria and South Australia.
The firm has five permanent offices in Warrnambool, Mt Gambier, Hamilton, Camperdown and Colac “so we have the Green Triangle Area well and truly covered” notes Tim, no stranger to travel. In fact, Tim and his wife Ingrid, a solicitor, along with their one year old son Piers have moved from near Mortlake, where Tim grew up, to head up the firm’s new Colac office.
“I thought there were great opportunities for the firm in this direction, so put my hand up to move” says Tim, who will still spend one to two days a week in the Warrnambool office, looking after clients in the area “although, I confess the Colac location will give us greater access to the horse facilities at Werribee Park and so on”, adds Tim, who recently bought a few acres outside Colac which look suspiciously conducive to stables and horse yards.
After graduating, Tim gained his Chartered Accounting qualifications at leading Melbourne based firm BDO, before moving to Sinclair Wilson in 2007.
“Sinclair Wilson is a great firm, with the sort of scale, systems and support I became accustomed to in Melbourne, but with the opportunity and absolute commitment to personalised service and deep client relationships” Tim explains.
“We have terrific staff and clients, I really enjoy going to work.”
Tim knows he has a series of “steep jumps” ahead of him, but is ready for the challenge “I have had excellent mentoring from senior Principals and great backup from staff. In conjunction with my 22 fellow Principals and Directors, I am looking to develop business in all directions, particularly Colac. Strength in numbers is a cliché but is what we are about, and is highly effective.”
