Australian Company Directors are required by law to verify their identity with the Australian Business Registry Service and obtain a Director ID.

ASIC is responsible for enforcing director ID offences.  It is a criminal offence if directors do not apply on time and significant penalties may apply.

New directors appointed on or after 5 April 2022, must apply prior to their appointment.

No, Only directors can apply for their own director ID.
